What is the United Fund of Jackson County?

We have not been able to find folks willing to serve in key leadership positions, so we are going inactive. We will not conduct a campaign this fall (2007). All donations received via the 2006 campaign will be disbursed according to the donors' designations. In the absence of the UFJC, we hope that you will make your contribution directly to the Jackson County organization(s) of your choice.

It is our hope that in the future this organization can be reactivated. If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer a significant amount of time serving in a leadership capacity for the United Fund of Jackson County, please contact Cindy Allison Thompson at cindyt@dnet.net.

The United Fund is a grassroots effort to raise funds for over 30 nonprofit organizations serving Jackson County residents and visitors. A single contribution to the United Fund campaign supports the work of all these groups. The funds raised by this united campaign allow the member agencies to spend more time serving our community and less time fund raising.

The roots of this united fund raising effort extend back to 1958 when the first campaign was conducted. In the earliest years the campaigns were sporadic, but since 1967 a campaign has been completed annually. In 1977 the Board of Directors incorporated the organization and received 501c3 status from the IRS on January 23, 1978. Over the years the demands of the campaign have grown. In 2005, the Board of Directors made the bold decision to hire a part-time office administrator.
